Trying something new…..

I am starting something new and I am hoping that 1 – I can keep it up and 2 – it will help to better link my social media sites together. I’ve seen many successful bloggers that do this, so I am hoping on the bandwagon and I am hoping you all will help keep me on track.

I am going to write a post about any YouTube video that I make. It’s more beneficial for the card making design videos I do, but I want to try it with even the haul videos. Today’s video is a mix of my last blog post about the canvases and a shopping haul.

If you read my last post, you know that I made two canvases – one using distress ink and one using paint. While I do like the way the distress inked one came out, the ink doesn’t totally dry and it rubs off on your hands. Not a great thing to have happen lol. The second canvas was done in a dark blue paint. The first time I tried to write the quote I used paint. That didn’t turn out so great so I repainted the canvas and I took a silver marker and wrote the quote on it.

As for the haul, I think I found a lot of great products. First, if you haven’t checked out AC Moore’s new app, download it. You get a 55% off coupon and for today I believe there is also a 55% off coupon. (It’s either today or tomorrow I can’t remember). And, if you don’t know this either, you can use AC Moore coupons at Michael’s! I did yesterday and I got a pack of 2 rolls of ATG tape for $4.50! That’s the acid free one too. Pretty good deal!

I like to go down the aisles and check out the red clearance tagged items. I found two new punches this way. They are EK Success ones, which are good quality. Punches can be hard to store, but I do have some room in my craft closet for a couple more! : )

I also like to pay attention to the signs. Lots of stores are careless when they take down signs. Some aren’t taken down and you can get last week’s sale price if they forget. I’ve done that many of times. Also, if the products are in two locations (like the Heidi Swapp stuff I show in the video below), there may not always be a second sign. That’s frustrating as a consumer, but you have to keep your eyes peeled at all times!! You never know what you might find!

So, here’s the video:

Some great deals

I know that most of my posts are about crafts, but we crafty people like deals don’t we??? I know I do. Here are some good ones that I have found:

Snapfish is doing their 300 Penny Prints again. I ordered them last time and it cost less than $20 (with shipping – that’s how they get you!!) to print 300 pictures. The next closest I’ve ever seen is 50% off prints or $.10 each prints at Walgreens. Snapfish is clearly still the better deal, unless you need them within the hour. The promo code for this deal is MPENNY300 and ends 11/26.

Speaking of Walgreens, they are offering a free 8×10 print until the end of today. You don’t have to make any other purchase either! It’s a great deal since I think the 8×10 enlargements are a couple of bucks. The code for that is FREE2THANK. They are also offering 50% off everything photo related (prints, books, cards, etc).

Don’t know what to get someone for the holiday? Tired of the same old gift card to their favorite restaurant? How about an iTunes gift card? Well, from now until some time in December (or until they run out the website says), if you purchase a $25 gift card at Michael’s, you will only pay $20!! Of course, I know somewhere that you can get really cute gift card holders for these…… (Had to self promote! https://www.etsy.com/listing/114763902/set-of-4-pop-up-gift-card-holders-for).

Have you ever heard of the app GeoQpons? It’s a free app that shows you all kinds of deals. You can search by name of store or by item and all kinds of deals come up. It’s the equivalent of keeping that Clippers Coupon (for those of you in South Jersey) or those ValuPak coupons on you at all times. You can see what stores are around you and what kind of deals they are offering. And it’s not just retail stores – there are restaurants, auto body shops and even car rental deals on there!

These are just some of the great deals that I have found recently and thought I would share with you. Pass them on to your friends and family. Budgets are tight and we all could use some deals! Enjoy the start of the shopping season!

Hobby Lobby

Posted on

I’ve heard about this mythical place on plenty of YouTube videos and seen people list it as their go to place for supplies. For us “Northerners”, it wasn’t an option. Until recently! Hobby Lobby opened in Millville. Strange location for the store to open – at least in my opinion. But, its 3% sales tax, so who am I to complain? : )

If you’ve never been to a Hobby Lobby, I suggest you get in your car and drive to one. It’s like AC Moore, Michael’s, Home Goods and the party store all rolled into one. (And I only had a chance to see half of the store, as I was on my “lunch break” from work). I walked in and was immediately overwhelmed because I didn’t know where to look first. The store is bright and clean and full of stuff. I finally reached the scrapbook section and was like, this is it? There was a tiny free-standing display with some Cricut products on it and then three or four aisles of stamps, stickers and embossing folders. Where were all the papers and albums?

Then I turned the corner. There were at least three aisles of open stock paper, plus a couple more aisles of paper packs. There was an entire aisle dedicated to photo albums – both sides of it!! I have never seen so many scrapbooking supplies. It was crazy!

My favorite aisle was the stamp aisle. Their selection of wooden stamps is amazing. They have them divided by category and they are in wooden shelves. Most of them I haven’t seen at AC Moore or Michaels. There were a lot of saying and beautiful images. I bought about ten and there are plenty more that I would like to get. There were some really cute Christmas mouse ones that would be perfect on Christmas cards for this year!

However, I was disappointed with their selection of clear stamps. They didn’t seem to have many and the ones they did have weren’t very impressive. Maybe they have more somewhere else, but in the stamp aisle it was sparse. Since the wooden stamps were so plentiful, I would have assumed the same for the clear ones.

The other thing that was disappointing is that they don’t take AC Moore or Michael’s coupons. If you don’t already know, you can use Michael’s coupons at AC Moore and vice versa. They do have their own coupons, but so far all I’ve seen is 40% off ones and the other two offer 50% ones. (Or lately, AC Moore has been offering 50% off and I’ve been using it at both retailers).

One suggestion when you are shopping at Hobby Lobby – take notice of all signs / prices. They don’t have scanners, so the cashiers have to know what is on sale. The store had signs up for last week’s sale (and I didn’t check the dates on them!) The cashier didn’t see the products on sale in their flyer, so he had to call. They did honor what the sign(s) said, as someone missed about five of them!

Overall, I really enjoyed my shopping experience at Hobby Lobby. I know I have a lot more that I want to buy there – there is so much to look at and choose from. If you are a scrapbook enthusiast, I highly recommend a shopping trip to Hobby Lobby.
