World Card Making Day….

is next weekend! I am so excited. I have so many ideas for new crafts and cards for my show. I know that there is a day for everything, but I love this day! I can dedicate a whole day to crafting without feeling too guilty because after all, that’s what the day is meant for.

I probably won’t be just working on cards. I have my goddaughter’s scrapbook to work on, as well as her sister’s first year book. Then, I have to start working on the twin’s books. I have pictures printed out for three of the four books, so at least I am a head on that one!

And then there are the craft fairs. I have one on November 1st and the other on November 22nd. I am very excited about both of them. The second one is one that I have done for two years now and I love it. It’s a great show – very well run with amazing people. The first one is a new one for me, but it is also at a school. I seem to do really well at school craft fairs. People there come to buy. Last year I remember there being a line at ten of nine to get into the craft fair! It was a constant stream of customers. I am hoping that the first craft fair will be the same way. I just got my confirmation for that one and I got a corner spot! Love corner spots because that means you can make an “L” and still have room!

Well, I am off to make more things! My To-Do-List keeps getting longer each day it seems. Off to make cards, scrapbooks and bags for the craft fair!

Thanks for stopping by! Feel free to leave comments or questions and subscribe. I love to hear what you guys think.

Excitement and disappointment

These past couple of weeks have been sheer craziness! I have been training new hires at my day job since the beginning of June, so I have been traveling non-stop. I finally was able to take a week vacation, which wasn’t really a vacation. I got text messages and phone calls from people all week – not very relaxing! I also spent a lot of time with my sister in law, shopping and making things for my sister’s shower.

I took off on the 23rd so that I could get some furniture delivered and it just so happened to be craft day on HSN. I have been thinking about getting the Explore for awhile now and I knew it would be on sale that day. I ended up buying the Anna Griffin bundle, which was on sale for less than what I have seen it in stores for. I think it comes with two cartridges, some vinyl and paper, a mat and two months of free images on Design Space.

I was all excited the other day when I got the email from HSN that it was shipping. I was even more excited when I got the tracking email that said it should be here some time this week.

And then I went to turn on my computer yesterday. It was dead. Well, not dead, but I got what some call the “gray screen of death”. I was devastated. This happened to my last iMac. These things aren’t cheap. I got them from my hard earned points at work and wanted them to last more than two years.

The reason that I am so upset about the iMac “dying” is because you need the new Explore to be hooked up to a computer to work. My plan was to bring the computer downstairs and put it on my new desk and then to have the Explore down there. But, apparently it had other plans.

I found this out on Sunday when I came home from the shower and tried to upload the pictures from the shower. I freaked out and immediately googled “gray screen on iMac” to look for solutions. Nothing worked. I stopped and then tried again today.

After trying ALMOST everything, I found one solution that sounded like it was going to work. I turned the computer off and then back on and before the chimes, I held down the Option button. It brought me to a screen that asked me to connect to my wireless router and then after trying that twice, it actually worked! (There was a gray bar underneath that would only get about halfway done before a spinning gray wheel would pop up and nothing would happen).

I was back to being super excited again. Hopefully my Explore will be here by the end of this week and I can start creating some things with it!

I have uploaded the video on the shower decor I made – I’ll write a post on that as well with the link if you guys want to check it out!

They have a day for everything!

Posted on

Happy National Scrapbooking day! I didn’t realize until a year or two ago that this day existed, like many of the other “National so-and-so-” days. I am not sure who decides that it’s a National day, but I am glad this one came about. Not only do stores give great deals, but it’s an excuse to craft all day. (Who needs an excuse to do so, though??)

Unfortunately, I won’t be participating this year. At least not in the traditional sense. I am heading down to the shore to spend the day walking around at the Ocean City Block Party. It’s always packed and there are great vendors. I love walking the ten or so blocks to check everything out. This year may be difficult – I am going to need to stop and sit a lot because of my knee, but I am going to try to push myself. So, instead of working on things to sell or my own projects this National Scrapbook day, maybe I will buy from another fellow scrapbooker.

I will, however, be working on some sketches and new ideas for projects. So, I guess that means in a way I am participating. I have so many new products that I can’t wait to use and need to draw some sketches so that I can get started on using them. I went to Jo-Ann’s and A.C. Moore last night and got a couple of things. I didn’t go crazy like I have been at the online stores.

I was disappointed in Jo-Ann’s. Their scrapbooking section was so tiny (in my store at least) and it wasn’t that great. Their prices were higher than A.C. Moore’s or Michael’s on some things. For example, I bought a Zig 2 way glue pen that was a whole dollar more than at the other two stores. I only bought it because I had a 50% off coupon. In retrospect, I should’ve used that at Michael’s and got more for my money, but I didn’t want to go there too.

Anyway – I am getting a little of topic. You all know I can ramble! I just wanted to wish my fellow scrapbookers (and I’d include carmakers as well!!) a Happy National Scrapbooking Day! May you be creative all day long. Oh – and is there a separate National Cardmaker’s Day? I wonder………
