At our library down the shore there are so many magazine to choose from it’s unbelievable. I never realized that this many publications existed. For a shore town, the library is huge. Ever since we bought a house there, we have been members of the library. And now that we have moved, we are even closer! Which is great for my family since we are always there. So much so that the librarians always check to see if my parents have books on reserve when I walk in the door. To say they know us is an understatement!
This is where I found two craft magazines. I look for new issues every couple of trips because they are usually seasonal magazines, out for two months at a time. I love looking at them for inspiration. I take out the same back issues over and over to look at the different designs for each season or theme. I know I could easily get a subscription to them, but I have a hoarding issue. I’d have ten years of magazines and not throw any of them out! This way, I can just borrow one for a week, get inspired, make some projects and return the magazine, saving my craft room from further clutter. (Make no mistake, my craft room is FAR from decluttered.)
Looking through the magazines made me think about submitting some of my work to them. I printed out theme lists and due dates awhile ago, but never made anything for them. So, the other night, I decided to google how to submit cards for magazines and got a ton of information. There are so many magazines dedicated to crafters, both on and offline. I started writing down themes and due dates again and coming up with ideas. I have several projects that I want to start on today. Most magazines want you to submit things that haven’t been posted online (including Facebook) and your design can only be submitted to them. So, I have to come up with some new design ideas.
I hope that I can announce in a couple of months that at least one of my designs is going to be published. I think it would be so cool to see my name and my design in a magazine. Have any of you had designs or projects published?
